We follow a guide when installing a fireplace because making mistakes during installation can have devastating or even deadly consequences. We also check the chimney for dependability. Leakages may be potentially life threatening. Smoke getting anywhere other than the chimneys connected with it must be checked by an expert.

The usual method we use for testing a chimney is the smoke test.  We use patch of fireproof material (either a concrete, stone or tiled surface) in every wooden floored house, a flush with the floorboards in front of where the fire is to be fitted should appear. The constructional hearth is there to stop the joist of the floor expand beneath the fireside. A constructional hearth will usually consist of fireproof material at least 6" deep, around 48" wide and extending out approximately 18”.
